TEX-DAN project
TEX-DAN – Supporting Circular Innovation in the Danube Region’s Fashion and Textile Sector
About the project
TEX-DAN is a transnational initiative funded under the Danube Transnational Programme, aiming to accelerate the transition of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the fashion and textile industry toward circular economy models. While many sectors in the Danube region have made strides in sustainability, the textile and fashion industry still lags behind. TEX-DAN seeks to close this gap through knowledge exchange, co-creation, and the testing of innovative approaches.
Hungarian focus: textile waste and SME mentoring
In Hungary, the project places a special focus on textile waste. Ten domestic SMEs in the fashion and textile sector are selected for mentoring to help them overcome challenges related to recycling, waste management, and material reuse. The support is tailored to their specific needs and includes exploring digital platforms for material exchange and practical implementation of EU circularity strategies.
Coordination and partners
The Hungarian implementation of TEX-DAN is coordinated by the South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency (DDRIÜ), in cooperation with the Hungarian Development Promotion Office (MGFÜ) and the Blue Planet Foundation. These three organizations ensure that the project aligns with both national and European sustainability goals.
Pinkponilo Studio: fashion sector expertise
As a professional partner from the fashion industry, Pinkponilo Studio contributes its practical expertise in sustainable design, production processes, and circular textile solutions. The studio co-develops mentoring content and facilitates a Living Lab-style workshop, engaging designers, manufacturers, and local communities in participatory learning. Pinkponilo’s involvement focuses primarily on creative approaches to textile waste, aiming to rethink waste as a resource.
